The Black Eyed Peas are an American funky hip-hop (musical styles: crossover rap/hip hop and alternative rap/hip hop) group from Los Angeles, California, who have enjoyed international pop success. Starting as more of an underground group, the group first received worthy commercial success with the release of their album Elephunk. This co-incided with the joining of Fergie to the group after she was released from rehab. The group is currently composed of Will.i.am, Apl.de.ap, Taboo, and Fergie. It exists as one of the few interracial bands in current American hip-hop.
