GarbageGarbage is a rock group formed in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1994. The band members are producers Butch Vig, Steve Marker and Duke Erikson along with Scottish singer Shirley Manson.

Garbage's angry, emotional lyrics contrast with their catchy, pop alternative rock music. Garbage utilizes samples, electronic loops, grungy guitars, and various other effects to produce haunting and melodic tracks, made distinctive by Manson's vocals.

The band name reflects the fact that the band members thought there was no way this weird mix would work out.

The fact that Garbage is composed of three music producers is made obvious by the high production quality, with many layers and a "wall of sound" production aesthetic. Noted for their theme tune "The World Is Not Enough" for the James Bond film of the same title, some say this was the best song of that particular Bond era.

Known publicly as an experimental band (compared with Radiohead by some), Garbage has and continues to use their powerful videos to distort the dimensions of their songs.

Garbage released four albums: Garbage (s/t), Version 2.0, Beautiful Garbage and Bleed Like Me. Their major singles include Only Happy When It Rains, Stupid Girl, Push It, Special, Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go!) and Sex Is Not The Enemy, among others. Their music has been featured in TV shows and films, including The World Is Not Enough, Big Daddy, Veronica Mars, and the track (#1 Crush) featured in the opening theme of the British series Hex and the movie Romeo + Juliet.

The band announced towards the end of the tour for Bleed Like Me that they would be parting ways at its conclusion. Currently, Shirley Manson is working on a solo album for release in the near future.
