Linkin Park is a nu-metal band from Santa Monica, California. The band consists of Joe "Mr. Hahn" Hahn, Mike Shinoda, Dave "Phoenix" Farrell, Chester Bennington, Brad Delson and Rob Bourdon.
The band's actual first album is Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory EP (under the band name Hybrid Theory). It was released in 1999. The original EP is very rare, about 1000 were made in total. The real ones all contain the autographs of the members. The EP contains six songs; Linkin Park – Carousel, Linkin Park – Technique, Linkin Park – Step Up, Linkin Park – And One, Linkin Park – High Voltage and Linkin Park – Part of Me. The last track contains a hidden instrumental which begins at the 10:00 mark.
The band's first full studio album, Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory, released in 2000, was a huge success, selling 19 million copies. Among its singles were Linkin Park – One Step Closer, Linkin Park – Crawling, and the band's highest-selling single, Linkin Park – In the End.
Linkin Park - Reanimation was released in 2002, full of songs from "Hybrid Theory" and the EP that had been remixed by the band and other artists. Some fans criticized the album for a lack of new material.
The band's second studio album, Linkin Park - Meteora (released 2003), was not as successful as "Hybrid Theory". Still, it sold 10 million copies worldwide and was the first Linkin Park album that was not fully rap driven.
A limited edition live album and DVD came next: Linkin Park - Live in Texas. Although it was an opportunity for fans who have not been to the band's gigs to see them perform live, it was criticized for sounding almost exactly like the studio recording of their songs. The only proof that it was live was in the DVD footage.
Linkin Park and Jay-Z would then release Jay-Z and Linkin Park - Collision Course in which previously-released songs from the two artists were mixed together. Again like reanimation it seemed to be a repetitive album.
The band is set to release another album, codenamed "YunGodtre" (although this is not the offical name of the album). The release date, originally somewhere between July and September of 2006, has now been pushed back to the beginning of 2007. The band cites their reasoning as having fun experimenting with new styles and sounds in the studio, saying it is their most fun recording session to date.
On the Summer Sonic Festival 06 in Japan they performed a new song called Linkin Park – QWERTY aka 'Behind Your Lies', which opens a new era of Linkin Park's music, because it's not a mainstream song. On the festival they also performed an old song from their 'Xero' era, "Reading my eyes".
Their next live show is set for the bamboozle festival in 2007, and they'll be headlining some major festivals over in Europe in summer of 2007. Hopefully the fans will be able to hear some more of the new Linkin ParkLinks Linkin Park, muslib.ru (рус.)Version Wed, 16 Apr 2008 19:32:24 +0400
